T
he potential for serious flooding continues to  be present in San Antonio. The City of San Antonio has developed a flood public education and flood preparedness program called SAFE San Antonio Flood Emergency System. The mission of SAFE is to provide early flood notification during heavy rain events and  educate the public on actions necessary to protect life and property.

 The SAFE System goals are to:

  1. Educate the public on flood awareness, preparedness and safety.
  2. Develop a multi-media approach to public education and training.
  3. Work with the first responder community, the National Weather Service, school districts, business community, media, neighborhood and apartment organizations.
  4. Enhance existing emergency notification systems under a unified front.
